Life Brings Grief
Grief is a brutal task master and takes its toll on the mind, body and spirit! After my husband died, I spent 8 years grieving as I learned how to live life without him. Among the many friends I spoke with when he passed, our Tai Ji Master said this to me; “In the beginning grief is about the person you have ‘lost’, after that, it’s all about you.” It took a long time to embrace the truth and wisdom of his words.
Sometimes life gets messy. Recently, I experienced a traumatic incident in my life and fell into a deep state of grieving. A part of me was so devastated that I was unable to see the light of day. I was in a dark hole I desperately wanted to climb out of which at times seemed impossible. For a time, there was no escaping the heartbreak, anxiety, depression, tears, self-doubt, self-flagellation leading to self-evaluation.
If one is willing, the process is the gateway to transforming unrecognized limitations impeding the gift of life. It was time to practice what I know and use the tools available for my support through the gate to the other side. I have listed the tools that calmed the stormy seas of my heart, mind and soul.
After taking these supplements, meditating, reading, writing, praying, crying, reaching out to family & close friends and a weekend with my grandchildren, I surrendered, allowing the healing that had laid dormant. Light has returned and I can see clearly now.
